Like Father - Like Son

You may think you have read this story before – you have but with Abram and his wife! This episode begins with Isaac fearing a famine and thinking about a new neighborhood. God makes a startling appearance (Isaac's first!) and tells him NO! It is interesting here that God stops Isaac from traveling to Egypt. Now if you remember when Abraham had gone to Egypt, he got into a mess because of his lying, and he also brought home with him a woman named Hagar. So to avoid that mess again, God speaks to Isaac and tells him, “Don’t go to Egypt!” Now this is the first time the Bible records God speaking to Isaac, and God says to him, “Don’t go to Egypt. Live in the land that I tell you to live in.” This is very interesting, because all three of the patriarchs faced this problem… they were all faced with the problem of famine in the Promised Land.

We face dry times in life and fear is at the door! Send faith to answer and it will be better for you and your family – that is the lesson of Genesis 26. Common fears – uncommon faith! Sunday we will look at common problems and God's solutions. We can trust God for protection and direction
