Curses and Consequences

What was Creation supposed to resemble? What were the effects of the Fall? How does this Fall challenge the relationships of men and women? Man and Creation? Man and Creator?

These are all the questions that come up when we take a look at the the Curses and Consequences of the Fall in the Garden. Four things were cursed: The serpent, the man and woman and the ground. Each of these have direct impact on us everyday! What is so wonderful is that the solution to each of these failings is the promise of God's redemption as shadowed in the Coverings He provides.

Of humanity, John Piper says, “They were created in the image of God according to Genesis 1:27 and so the relationship they have was supposed to be governed by equality of personhood, equality of dignity, mutual respect, harmony, complementarity, and a unified destiny.” Each of these was lost or changed in the Fall and God addresses each one in the chapters and books to follow – culminating in the presentation of Messiah and the resurrection of His Son. Sunday we will take a look at the beginning of this story – the Fall and the Curses and Consequences – see you then!
