Standing alone
“The ark was, so to speak, a coffin to him: he entered it, and became a dead man to the old world” C.H. Spurgeon
Standing alone is a hard thing to do! Nobody likes to be singled out or ridiculed – especially for who we are or things we believe. This kind of rejection and mocking is what Noah would face for all the years of construction on the Ark. Wickedness had overtaken the World and Noah was trying to raise a family in the middle of this depravity. God saw him as the anomaly – the one bright star in a dark night. But to listen to God was gong to take an uncommon courage! Courage to stand alone – despite every evidence and the reason of ordinary men. Sunday I will show you the three things Noah needed most – they all relate to listening to God! Before Easter we read the story of Enoch and how he “walked with God” so does Noah. Enoch was lifted from the Earth to Heaven while Noah was lifted from the water by the Ark – God is good! We will meet Noah the Evangelist, Noah the Shipwright, Noah the Father and Noah the Obedient! Most importantly, we will meet a man of godly courage and devotion.
