Purity of Heart

“I believe firmly that the moment our hearts are emptied of pride and selfishness and ambition and everything that is contrary to God's law, the Holy Spirit will fill every corner of our hearts. But if we are full of pride and conceit and ambition and the world, there is no room for the Spirit of God. We must be emptied before we can be filled.” Dwight L. Moody

What a great start! Moody captures the order of the Beatitudes by focusing on the emptying of anything connected with sin or self and filling the heart with everything from God. Sunday’s ‘blessing’ is having a ‘pure heart’ so that we can clearly ‘see God’ in our everyday life. I will begin by a short study of Biblical purity and give some examples from the Old and New Testament – then on to the thrill of seeing God. The end of Sunday’s message is a brief step by step of how we are removing obstacles that block our view and focusing on the beauty of Christ alone.

Don’t forget – you get an extra hour of sleep so wide awake I hope to see you Sunday!
