Restored!
“It is of no use to say to men, ‘Let not your heart be troubled,’ unless you finish the verse and say, ‘Believe in God, believe also in Christ.’" Alexander MacLaren
The last five promises of Amos are most hopeful! The book has been a diary of men exhausting the goodness of God and insisting on their sin until the mercy of God is depleted. Justice then demands a judgment – God is still warning the people of the Land what is coming. But His Story (history) does not end with doom or gloom but promises of redemption and restoration. Sunday I will take us through the five promises of God for Israel and share with you how those promises parallel the redemption provided by the death of Christ. Just as Israel did not need to despair because of coming judgment – neither do we! God is good and He has made payment in our behalf so that our heart does not need to ‘be troubled.’ After several weeks of impending consequences – a breath of promise fills the air – come and see!
