Lunch with Jesus

Exodus, Gospels, Revelation“We call this food the thanksgiving [Eucharist], and the only people allowed to receive it are those who believe our teaching and have received the washing for the remission of sins and for regeneration; and who live according to the commands of Christ.” Justin Martyr Why do we gather to remember the Old Testament Passover? How does the Lord’s Supper (Table) remind us of the Passover? Why is the last element of the Eucharist a promise of the Return of Christ? (1 Cor 11:26). The Lord’s Table is first and foremost a place to remember Jesus. When Jesus sat around the table with his disciples and gave them the bread and the cup, twice he told them, “Do this in remembrance of me.” Short and simple, when we take communion, we think of Jesus. He is our focus. He is our reason for being here. We remember him. We cannot forget Jesus sinless life – His sacrificial death – His redeeming resurrection! The cost of such Salvation was the body and blood of the Messiah. Sunday I will look back at the Passover, presently at the Lord’s Table and toward the future in the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Three meals with Jesus – join us as we celebrate and give thanks! See you Sunday,Pastor Mike“Communion should be the celebration of our daily fellowship.”
