Prodigal Son Story
This Sunday at Grace we look at the parable of the Prodigal Son. The Youth Missions Team just returned home, and the teens will be sharing testimonies, leading in worship, and sharing photos of the trip. I am excited to share with you the story of that the teens shared all week from Luke 15.
I want you to consider this thought: “There are two types of people in this world: those who know they’re lost and those who don’t.”
That sounds deep, but have you ever thought of yourself as lost? Sure, there are good days and bad days, and everyone messes up occasionally, but “lost” can sound a bit harsh.
It turns out, this is exactly what Jesus wanted to tell us through the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. Before a mixed crowd of infamous sinners and super-religious people, Jesus used the example of two brothers—the Runaway (the younger son) and the Hard-Heart (the older son)—to show that there’s more than one way to be lost. The same is true for us; rebellious rule-breakers and strict rule-followers alike need to hear the Gospel. Thankfully, Jesus also showed us the one way to come back home.
We are excited to come home to Columbia, but our main goal should be showing everyone that there is a home made for them with their Heavenly Father. See you all this Sunday at Grace while we share this time together.
