Dedication of an Athlete

Jun 21, 2020    Mike Burt

“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24
Paul understood dedication! Using the Soldier, the Athlete and the Farmer – Paul focused on critical skills and attitudes that were essential to success in faith. The focus of our life is not to be our lifestyle, or fun, or recreation or even our friends and service to our family. The focus is to be Jesus Christ Himself. We endure hardships, we discipline our lives, we put effort into our walk to be closer to Christ and to be more and more like Him. We empty ourselves of the world, self, extra weights, and sins which trip us up in order to grow closer to Christ–in order to enjoy Him forever when our race is done. These steps are the center of Sunday's message – dedication toward a race that is run for the glory of God. We call this race our life and our ministry for the Gospel. I hope you can be with us this week as we take a look at the Athlete on Father's Day.
Happy Father's Day
