Paul’s Personalities of Faith

Jun 7, 2020    Mike Burt

“In this verse (2 Timothy 2:2) we have the Holy Spirit's formula for church growth - the formula that Paul followed. Paul used no clever tricks.... His method was like Christ's. The Lord poured Himself into a dozen men who, when filled with the Holy Spirit, poured themselves into others.” John Phillips

Sunday we begin a short expository series from 2 Timothy – the roles of the Soldier, the Athlete and the Farmer. Paul introduces these in his final Earthly letter to his son in the ministry – Timothy. We will begin with an introduction to Paul and Timothy and we read how Paul passed on his knowledge and wisdom and then how he expected Timothy to do the same. Lots of unique techniques are involved – some from the life of a soldier while others are more similar to athletes and yet more resembled the patience and farsightedness of the farmer. We are not to be only one of these but ALL of them at appropriate times. This is a challenging study and will summon from each of us a time of soul searching and life assessing reflection. Join us in person on Sundays at 9 or 10:30 or as we have been doing now for weeks – Grace Online!
