Eyewitnesses of Life & Death & Life!

In the American Church culture there are two great holidays each year—Christmas and Easter. For most of us, Christmas is the bigger and a more celebrated season of the year. It’s the time when we gather with family and friends. We sing, we praise, we laugh, and we exchange presents. Christmas can be a climax of the whole year. And what about Easter? For some people it’s just another long weekend, a break in the dreary stretch between Christmas and summer vacation. Some Christians view Easter as a second-rate holiday better known for candy eggs and fluffy bunnies.

Somehow, we’ve gotten our thinking badly mixed up. If Easter had not happened, Christmas would have no meaning. If Easter had not happened, Christmas would be nothing more than a sweet-sounding fable. If Easter is not true, then Christmas is only the story of an obscure baby born in an out-of-the-way town in a forgotten land 2000 years ago. It is the great miracle of Easter that gives Christmas its true meaning. Sunday we will take a look at the events, the people and the outcomes of that first Easter Sunday – so significant that we celebrate Christmas only once a year and Easter every week! Join us for this reminder of how important Easter is to us every day!
