There and back again - Triumphant Entry!
Palm Sunday is a day when Christians traditionally celebrate the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.
Across the years, I have preached many Palm Sunday sermons. There are many messages in this event that need to be talked about. This is an event that found its way into all four gospels. It is in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It must be important. We can talk about the people who came – the events preceeding the Passover – the coming of the King! Yet, this Sunday I will look at John’s memory of this grand day – what he understood and what he recalled later as the real lessons. Oddly enough I will also take a look at the donkey – tamed by the Creator and ridden by the Messiah. What an odd tableau!
Join us this week for worship and reflection on there and back again – Jesus comes in as King but is soon condemned as a criminal – executed and resurrected! Back again! This is a wonderful call for us as believers to pay attention and be ready to serve the true King of kings!
See you this Palm Sunday – the Triumphal entry of the King
