What Jesus Wants Us to Remember!

May 31, 2020    Mike Burt

“We call this food the thanksgiving [Eucharist], and the only people allowed to receive it are those who believe our teaching and have received the washing for the remission of sins and for regeneration; and who live according to the commands of Christ.” Justin the Martyr - 100-165AD

When we share in Communion, we should remember that Jesus' death provides us with forgiveness and strength for each day. Sunday I will take the third in our Memorial Series - Communion and preach the 5 key principles of The Lord’s Last Supper with the Disciples. Jesus’ words, "Do this in remembrance of me," are well known to everyone. The words are often carved into the front of Communion tables in many churches. The words are quoted and sung. They're mentioned twice in 1 Corinthians 11, where Paul gives instructions to the Corinthians regarding the practice of the Lord's Table. This new practice was established by Jesus on the night before he was crucified. The practice of the Lord's Table, or the Lord's Supper, or Communion, is observed by Grace each month and we will share together this Sunday - both in person and virtually! If you are attending by one of our OnLine venues - get your elements together for Sunday morning. If you are planning on attending - we will have a ‘touchless’ bread and cup for you and your family!
