He is coming! - Mark 1:1-8

“The Gospel is not just better news – it is the BEST news!”

The journey through Mark begins! Sunday we start where I love to start – chapter 1 verse 1 – by God’s grace you can dig with me in this book until we gather for chapter last (16) and verse last! For Grace Bible Church this has been our staple – going verse by verse – doing expository study of every event. Sunday we start with Mark 1:1 as the title and follow John the Baptizer in his fulfillments of Old Testament prophecies and his introduction of the Messiah – Jesus Christ. John was a colorful figure and quite unconventional to the religious minds of that day – an outright rebel!

Before we meet the Messiah – Mark shares the message of John the Baptizer about how we should be ready. Some are Biblical recognitions and others are heart submissions. Both are essential to our pursuit of Christ in life. Sunday I will share 3 key areas for our heart to softened to follow our Messiah. Be Ready – Be Willing – Be Humble. None of these seem to be the elements of strong leadership or inspiring to greatness – but the key verse in Mark flips this upside down - “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

Join us this week for the first step of a great journey through the Gospel as told by Mark.
