Pastor Mike's Pick
Because of the warm fuzzy ambiance and economic impact of Christmas, Dr. John MacArthur is convinced that we are missing the enormous impact of the reality behind the season. The Case for Christmas: A Journalist Investigates the Identity of the Child in the Manger

Pastor Mike's Pick
Some say that newborn baby would become a great moral leader. Others, a social critic. Still others view Jesus as a profound philosopher, a rabbi, a feminist, a prophet, and more. Many are convinced he was the divine Son of God. But who was he really? Join Strobel as he invites you to push past the distractions of the holiday season and come into the presence of the baby who was born to change your life and rewrite your eternal destination: the greatest gift of all.

Come, Let Us Adore Him: A Daily Advent Devotional

The wonder and awe of the Christmas season can easily get overshadowed by lights, tinsel, bows, and paper―not to mention last-minute trips to the mall and visits to the in-laws. In all the hustle and bustle, we often lose sight of what’s most important. This book of daily readings for the month of December by best-selling author Paul David Tripp will help you slow down, prepare your heart, and focus on what matters most: adoring our Savior, Jesus.

The Weary World Rejoices: Daily Devotions for Advent

For generations, churches and families have used Advent wreaths to help prepare for celebrating the Lord's birth at Christmas. The evergreen wreath symbolizes eternal life and includes four candles―typically three purple and one pink, with a white candle in the middle that symbolizes the purity of Christ. Various traditions assign different topics to each candle, and the candles are usually given names to remind us of the good news of Christ's birth.

Service Opportunities & Activities

Christmas with Coyote Hill

The local foster families at Coyote Hill  just completed Christmas wish lists for the children in their home and we are looking for individuals, small groups, offices and such to sponsor the lists. They have 423 child lists to fulfill! If you do not want to commit to a $250 wish list, there are also  several other ways to help children impacted by foster care this Christmas!

Serve and/or donate to Love Columbia

Because He first loved us, Love Columbia serves anyone in Columbia who is struggling to provide for their basic needs or improve their life and wants help to create a path forward. Many of the people that they serve have nowhere else to turn. Often, they are under great stress and facing multiple challenges. Without intervention, many of their situations would become quite dire and result in a negative domino effect such as eviction leading to homelessness or unaffordable car repair leading to job loss. There are needs year-round but get started here this Christmas!

Serve at Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen

At Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen, they partner with faith and community groups to provide an evening meal 7 nights a week. They generally serve 70-125 people a night, and the soup kitchen is open all year round. The only days meals are not served at the soup kitchen are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes Christmas in July. On those days, the hungry are invited to eat at the several other places that offer a free holiday meal, or to stop by St. Francis House during our evening hours

Spend time with family and friends looking at lights around Columbia

Columbia has many awesome Christmas light offerings. Take a night with family and friends, pile in the car, get hot cocoa, and spend time taking it all in!
