THE Really Good News - Gospel according to Mark

Mar 22, 2026    Mike Burt

Who is Mark?

Why 4 Gospels?

Plan of Mark?

These and many other questions we looked at over the past year in Mark!  I will step back and look again at a few of those best moments – we need to be reminded of what to take home and on in life with us from Mark.

Mark was an unlikely author and with that Peter was an unlikely disciple now Apostle to be sharing this account with Mark.  John Mark had begun as a bit of a disappointment – at least to Paul as read in Acts 13.  Beginning the journey of a lifetime John Mark left the team suddenly and returned home.  Paul was not quick to forgive and could not forget – so Barnabas took on this recovery project and by both Peter and Paul it seems to have come out right.

John Mark as a young boy had seen the last days of Jesus and experienced the beginning of the Church in his own house!  Nothing like front row seats!

Mark’s Gospel recalls the highlights of Jesus ministry while skipping the early start in Bethlehem and many of the parables.  Mark is the shortest but fastest of the Gospels – Sunday I will try to give the overhead drone’s view of this short Gospel.  It is Celebration Sunday so come for breakfast and coffee and fellowship the stay for the worship and celebrations and review of Mark – it is Really Good News!
