Much to Learn! - Mark 12:35-44

Jesus has been questioned by His enemies – the Sadducees and the Pharisees and the Herodians. Now the Pharisees are asked a question by Jesus – seems only fair! From the folksy parables and common illustrations – Jesus suddenly goes deep – really deep! They are stumped – so in their silenced confusion Jesus warns the crowds that their hypocrisy is evidenced in their parading about as pious when in truth – they are ungodly. Then with one last attempt Jesus turns their attention to an unlikely subject – a poor widow at worship. "She gave the most!" The disciples marveled as her token gift was insignificant in comparison to the value of so many other gifts. This is a rich passage – Jesus answers the critics – Jesus admonishes the proud – Jesus admires the humble – all in one day! I have a replica ‘mite’ for the kids to take home from Greenhouse and a powerful lesson for us to take home as well – see you Sunday!
