Dr. Cox is married to his wife Janna and has three children and five grandchildren. He and his wife Janna reside in Kansas City but make numerous trips to Boston to visit children and grandchildren.

In his role as Executive Pastor at Abundant Life Church in Kansas City, MO, he oversees Global Missions, Ministries of Mercy in the greater Kansas City area, Abundant Life Counseling Center, and recovery ministries. In his role at Calvary University, he oversees the Master of Arts in Counseling department, preparing Christian counselors for licensure in the State of Missouri.

Dr. Cox transitioned the Master of Arts in Counseling Department at Calvary University to meet the requirements for licensure in the State of Missouri. His work with Abundant Life Christian Counseling Center, which employs thirty professional counselors, supervises 30 counseling residents a year, and facilitates over 30,000 counseling sessions a year. The residency program at the counseling center has equipped over 200 counselors. He also facilitates a 12-step recovery ministry serving 300 people a week who experience life change and renewal.
