Them Too!

Acts 10:34-48

“Nothing that we despise in other men is inherently absent from ourselves. We must learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or don’t do, and more in light of what they suffer.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer

God is very clear in Scripture that all humans are made in the image of God. Jesus himself preached about discrimination and not judging others based on how they look or what they wear. This morning is one of these Bible verses relating to the context of racism and prejudice. I want to teach them clearly and see them as guidance for those who are different from us and let us be the kind of Church that reaches widely and shares openly all the Good News!

Peter has been to ‘school’ for the past couple of weeks – Jews that cared for Gentiles and now he is sent to share with a Gentile and sees the genuine faith that only comes from Christ. Now is the hard part – explaining to others what has just happened. There is another piece to this drama – explaining to other Jews how he could engage a Gentile – that is next week back in Jerusalem.

For this week – let’s see how God is truly the God of love and forgiveness and reconciliation! No room for prejudices nor favoritism – just love for the World!
